WRITTEN & PERFORMED BY
LIN LU-CHIEH
There must something in this world you truly love—and you’re brilliant at it.
Magic seamlessly meets theatre in Lin Lu-Chieh's engaging autobiographical solo show. Confident and captivating, this young, self-taught master of prestidigitation offers up a true and touching coming-of-age story that couples delightful 'How did he do that?' sleight-of-hand with warm-hearted observations on the sometimes painful yet often humorous process of growing up. His sincerity and skill shine through. Gently laced with audience participation, this entertaining and universally relatable performance is about finding yourself by doing what you love. See it and understand just how wondrous and transformative magic can be. European premiere.
Dazed and Confused is a 50-minute solo theater show blending magic and storytelling. It follows a rural Taiwanese youth navigating self-discovery, using magical illusions to reflect the emotional trials of a 2000s Asian childhood.
Performed in English, it resonates globally, captivating over 2,000 audiences across 40 shows around Taiwan and Edinburgh since its 2023 premiere. In 2025, the show was a Selected Delegate of the Taiwan Season at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, received the "Best Show of the Year" award from Guling Street Avant-Garde Theatre and the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe Theatre Award.
The production has also been invited to perform as a guest artist at the World's Largest Magic Convention—the Blackpool Magic Convention—making the performer the first ethnically Taiwanese artist to be invited to present a full one-man show in the event's 74-year history.
"The writing is equally skilful, with some parts of the text reaching the level of restrained prose poetry."
