Birthday Party at Taipei Fringe Festival
Birthday party
Taipei Fringe Festival critic ( 4.5/5.0 )-Chao Wei-chang (Playwright)
The story begins with a boy. The boy saw the magician, so his eyes lit up. He saw something that he could be obsessed with. The boy liked to see the ball appear and disappear in the hands of the magician. The boy liked to see the balloons become various objects. All kinds of things, the boy likes to see people's curious and surprised eyes. But at the same time, the boy also clearly knows that if the magic trick is not magical, wonderful, or even wrong, that person's gaze will be full of malice, it will be an abyss.
During the viewing process, I was very involved. Lin Lu-chieh shared his history and context with the audience. Magic is not just a part of the performance, but a symbiosis with the story. I began to think, if it is not the extension of my own story, how can the magic be established? I'm looking forward to witnessing.

Along with telling the relationship between different ages and magic performances, it seems that the magic performances that echo the plot are presented casually, and the interaction with the audience is gradually promoted from performing alone. Guess what the audience's birthday wish is. The magic show brings the surprise of guessing the heart.
When the show turns to another space behind the stage, the two magic shows that interact with the audience involve trust in the performers. In addition to the different skills and the presence or absence of interaction with the audience, the various magic performances selected for the whole show also have differences in the level of psychological feelings of the audience touched or tested by the interaction. I feel that they are gradually deepening.
